Strengthening Transportation Alternatives for the Region (STAR) Plan

WAMPO has identified active transportation as a priority in response to growing community interest in nonmotorized transportation, sustainability goals, and safety concerns, with a focus on prioritizing connectivity between the communities in the WAMPO region. On June 9, 2026, the Transportation Policy Body approved a contract between WAMPO and RDG Planning & Design for the development of a regional active transportation plan. This project will be carried out with the support of WAMPO member jurisdictions, residents, and an Active Transportation Advisory Group (ATAG).

Project highlights include:

  • Development of an Active Transportation Advisory Group

  • Updated bicycle maps for the region and individual communities

  • 10 catalyst site plans that encourage social gathering and economic interests

  • Multiple public engagement opportunities

Have an idea for improving active transportation opportunities, connections, or coordination in the region? We’d love to hear from you!

Ideas, feedback, and updates are invited to be shared with the project team at wampo@wampo.org.
