Economic Indicators
WAMPO’s regional economic indicators effort was developed to better understand the economic conditions, fiscal trends, and community characteristics shaping the region. This work resulted in the Government Vitality and Business Dynamism reports, along with three related dashboards that organize economic, demographic, and health-related data for communities in the WAMPO region. Together, these resources provide a consistent set of indicators that can help support transportation planning, regional analysis, and future infrastructure decisions.
Regional Economic Indicator Dashboards
Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise Index
Combines economic, demographic, and health-related indicators into a single measure for each city in the WAMPO region, providing broad context on community conditions, well-being, economic opportunity, and population characteristics.
Business Dynamism Index
Compares local economies using indicators tied to business diversification and economic growth. Measures such as employment mix, establishment mix, wage diversity, employment growth, and wage growth provide broad context on the level of business activity, adaptability, and expansion across communities.
Government Vitality Index
Compares local governments using indicators tied to market growth, economic drivers, and fiscal growth. Measures such as income growth, home values, workforce composition, inward mobility, bonds, property tax collections, and retail sales provide broad context on fiscal health and future financing capacity.
