WAMPO Major State Corridors
Daily Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) and Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) Reports

These major state corridor reports use annual Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) data to track two core measures of roadway use: Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT), the average number of vehicles passing a point or over a roadway segment each day over a year, and Daily Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT), the total miles driven by all vehicles across a corridor in a day. Daily VMT is calculated by multiplying the AADT for each road segment of a corridor by that segment’s length, then summing the results of all segments of a corridor. Understanding these measures helps decision-makers gauge current demand on the network, anticipate growth, and identify where maintenance and future improvements are likely to be most beneficial. This report highlights how these metrics vary across WAMPO’s major state corridors and how they change over time.
