Our region has 33 airports that offer commercial passenger service, freight, military operations, and/or general aviation service. Of these airports, 24 are private general aviation facilities, eight are public civilian airfields, and one is a military airfield (McConnell Air Force Base (IAB).
In terms of scale of operations there are two airports in the region that are considered significant: Wichita Mid-Continent Airport (ICT) [which will be officially renamed to Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport on March 15, 2015] and the Colonel James Jabara Airport (AAO). Both are operated by the
Wichita Airport Authority (a department within the City of Wichita and not a separate airport authority). These two airports provide regional, national, and international transportation services.
